Love Art is a small but perfectly formed creative space in Tooting Market, South London. We sell affordable prints, beautiful things and run fantastic arty workshops for both children and adults. Everyone needs Art in their lives. The co-owners are Claire Rudkin & Gemma Lloyd.
Gemma LlOYD
Gemma did an arts foundation course at Cheltenham Art College and then went onto Camberwell Art College to train in Metalwork and then Ceramics. Wooed by the dizzy lights of the film industry she went onto to train as a film and television designer at Kingston University where she met Claire. More recently Gemma has trained at John Cass in jewellery making.
After several years of working in the film industry, Gemma founded act up a creative organisation that runs acting courses and communication skills training. It’s been running for over sixteen years and within that time has worked with many charities and organisations to enable more and more people to experience the benefits of the arts. She also works as a casting director and producer in theatre, dance and film and an agent to several lovely actors.
Gemma has always continued to create her own work, and Love Art has emerged from the passion of both Claire and herself to make the arts as accessible to as many as possible. We believe everyone can draw and we believe everyone should explore their creative side as much as they possibly can.
claire rudkin
Claire studied fine art at UWE in Bristol, then onto Kingston Production Design MA where Claire and Gemma met.
20 years in the film and TV industry led to designing a children’s art series for the BBC – Deadly Art. After 2 series and lots of time spent with painters, sculptors and printmakers the enthusiasm for art for art sake was once again fired.
Back to Kingston Uni (its very close to home) for a postgraduate in Illustration and with all the amazing friends in the art world to call on and a few things picked up in all those years of art education, Love Art came to fruition..
As well as co-owner of Love Art, Claire works as an Art Director in TV and is an Associate Lecturer at Wimbledon UAL on the Set Design BA.
